Breakfast/Lunch At Genki Sushi in Mongkok

Okay, I had free alone time today and headed out to wander around. I rode the MTR for the first time on this trip and hit Genki Sushi in Mongkok.

Now, I've seen Genki Sushi with its ubiquitous yellow scowling (?) smiley face symbol in many places here but I've somehow never tried anything at the chain in my 5 trips to Hong Kong.

Last Christmas, I hit Itacho a few times, notably on Christmas Eve and a few days after that.

Genki Sushi is like McDonald's compared to Itacho's Outback, to make a very clumsy analogy.

That said, I ate quite a lot at Genki and it was barely $20USD. So the price-to-satiety ratio was a good one.

This is the bonito I ordered which was a nice addition. Not on the conveyor belt...

This is the French Fois Gras Sushi -- as the menu advertised it. Quite tasty, warm and delicious and I say that as someone who didn't think he liked foie gras...

Sea eel with eel sauce (?) in that packet. In America, this would be slathered in the stuff...

Salmon roe, only about $1.25 US!!!

Roe from the conveyor belt...

Traffic was a mess today....
