Just a reminder that Throwing Muses will be rocking D.C.'s Black Cat tomorrow, October 14, 2011.
After reviewing their new career-spanning Anthology, I've been on a Muses kick.
I listen to a song like "Fish" and it still sounds unreal even 24 years later. Sometimes nostalgia makes something sound better now than it should but this isn't the case. Listen to "I Will Dare" by The Replacements, "Gardening at Night" by R.E.M., "Celebrated Summer" by Husker Du, or "Fish" by Throwing Muses and you will be hearing some of the best American music made in the 1980s.
Here's a recent clip of Kristin Hersh performing "Fish" at the Edinburgh Book Festival.
It's also worth adding that 4AD will be releasing a single-disc edition of Anthology outside of the US. However, you can still get the deluxe limited edition 2-disc edition of Anthology from KristinHersh.com here.
