Here's a Valentine's Day present for you: The Earth and Gruff Rhys are releasing a single called "Married 2 Me" this week and it's all kinds of awesome.
In case you don't know, The Earth is Dafydd Ieuan from Super Furry Animals, Mark Roberts of Catatonia, and Tristan Marley plus the downright fantastic and earth-shaking vocals of Dionne Bennett. They put our their music on Strangetown Records, a label run by Cian Ciaran of Super Furry Animals. Their music includes last fall's wonderful Keltic Voodoo Boogalo. It's a record that secured a place on my first ever Top 10 Albums of the Year list at the end of 2014. It's a record that I so love and admire.
Well now those guys and gal in The Earth have teamed up with Gruff Rhys, vocalist of Super Furry Animals, to release "Married 2 Me". It's a space-y and soulful cut that expands on what The Earth have already done so well, and it places Gruff's vocals in a new context.
