This new cut from Philadelphia's Mercury Girls is getting all kinds of press already so a little more won't hurt, will it?
A taster from the upcoming 8-song split between Slumberland Records and Fortuna POP!, "Holly" is a burst of fuzzy indie from a group that desperately needs to crank out a full-length album already! Until that day, we'll have to content ourselves with what the band has put out so far, "Holly" being a pretty good summation of the Philly act's expert distillation of a few generations' worth of shoegaze and C86 tropes into something succinct and good.
The split compilation in question is called Continental Drift and it will feature Mercury Girls, Wildhoney from Baltimore, The Spook School from Edinburgh, and Tigercats from London. It's gonna be a helluva release and it's probably not too early to pre-order this.
