TRACK PREMIERE: "Turntable Exiles" by Foxhall Stacks (Members Of Jawbox, Government Issue, Velocity Girl, Minor Threat)
Foxhall Stacks is the newest D.C. supergroup. The members are Jim Spellman (Velocity Girl, The High-Back Chairs), Bill Barbot (Jawbox, Burning Airlines), Peter Moffett (Government Issue, Wool, Burning Airlines), and the man and legend, Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Government Issue, Dag Nasty, The Meatmen). Foxhall Stacks crank out tunes that are just as much pure power-pop stompers as they are fine examples of this city's brand of pedigreed post-punk.
The band's "Turntable Exiles" is premiering today digitally ahead of its release on their debut later this summer on Snappy Little Numbers. That debut long-player, The Coming Collapse is full of crunchy alt-rock, stuff with real heft and vigor like "Turntable Exiles", the lead single. That the cut swings and swaggers like some odd mix of The Posies and Mott The Hoople doesn't hurt either. It's an instant classic, as far as this site is concerned. The song, with flip-side "Law of Averages", will also be available this summer starting June 14 on different stops of the Jawbox tour, as a limited edition cassingle with a unique OBI strip for each city of the tour.
The Coming Collapse and loads of other music from Foxhall Stacks will be out next month from Snappy Little Numbers. More details there, or on the label's official Facebook page.
