The Swedish band Hater made the jump from the fab PNKSLM label to the equally awesome Fire Records in 2018. The leap came with a refining of the band's sonic approach, one which saw the resulting album, Siesta, offer up some of the band's best music to date. Now, about to embark on a U.S. tour, Hater are set to drop two new songs.
"Four Tries Down" revs up and slows down, the players here riding these riffs expertly. The tune is insinuating, working its way into your brain on first listen. The flip here, "It's a Mess", is even better. Part cooing rocker and part dream pop excursion, "It's a Mess" reminds again of the skills of lead singer Caroline Landahl. Here's hoping that the band manage to record another full-length record soon.
"Four Tries Down" / "It's a Mess" is out tomorrow on Fire Records.
