That whole "WAP" controversy is nothing on what's in the lead single on the new EP from Swedish group Arre! Aree! The four-piece's newest EP, Heavy Breathing, drops on PNKSLM on Friday and it's as energetic as anything you're gonna hear this summer. And good old dirty fun too.
"Sit on My Face" roars and earns more than one smile, while "Ravenous Girl" is like an updating of the template created by L7 so many years ago. Arre! Arre! do the whole pop punk thing very well, so well that one wonders why something like "Me and My Fat Ass Friends" isn't a big hit already. Still, on "Make It Rain" the group makes the sound of this kind of raucous rock seem more nuanced than other groups would. To their credit, Arre! Arre! can rock out and make you think at the same time.
Heavy Breathing drops on PNKSLM on Friday.
