I Won't Change My Mind: A Brief Review Of The New EP From Remington Super 60

The new EP from Norwegian band Remington super 60 is a throwback to an era of better indie. Full of bright melodies and a real classic pop charm, Nouvelle Nouveau, out via Cafe Superstar on Friday, is one of the better releases this spring, and the perfect thing for this season.

"Talk with You" is straightforward, while "I Won't Change My Mind" is breathy, delightful stuff. So much of this is going to earn comparisons to early tracks from The Cardigans, which is an apt point of comparison, but there's other things here, like "Still Near" and "Misconception" that offer a neat blend of Saint Etienne-style melodic joy, and flashes of the kind of sleek indie-pop perfected by The Wannadies. Remington super 60 are doing everything right, and for those of us who came of age listening to any of the acts I mentioned above, there will be something to latch onto here.

Nouvelle Nouveau is out tomorrow on Cafe Superstar.
