The new EP from Collapsing Scenery is a little gem. The duo -- Don De Vore (Ink & Dagger, Lilys, The Icarus Line, Amazing Baby) and Reggie Debris -- mix elements of various genres up into something that's almost its own genre.
Opener "You Already Know" sounds like "Swastika Eyes"-era Primal Scream, while "Feed My Head (Til I'm Dead)" is trippier still, a nice mix of Chemical Brothers and modern sampling. "True Levelers" isn't as good, sounding dated right out of the box, while closer "Bootlickers" is the germ of a great track, lost in its own self-importance. The samples are quite powerful though. There's enough here on Acid Casual to recommend this, but mostly for those tolerant of Nineties big beat and synth stuff.
