"Feet In The Street Unseen By Surveillance": Heads Up About New Katie Alice Greer (Priests) Single From Forthcoming Album
It's been nearly three years since The Seduction of Kansas, the final album from the missed Priests, but the members have hardly not been busy. Happily, I'm here today to add to the chorus of excitement about the forthcoming long-player from Priests leader Katie Alice Greer.
Barbarism won't be out until June, but "FITS/My Love Can't Be", the first single, is here today. A clattering racket, the cut is a clever commentary on both the media and paranoia, especially during a pandemic. The video brings this point home more forcefully, but the lyrics do too. When Katie sings about being in the street, "unseen by surveillance", the more cautious among us get it. There's a lot of meaning here, as much as anything from that second, under-appreciated Priests record. And if this is an indication of where K.A.G. is heading sonically, it's a cool one as this, while electronica of a sort, is a also pure punk in terms of attitude and POV.
Barbarism will be out June 24.
