This Is A Wake Up Call: A Quick Review Of The New EP From Squiggles (ex-The Spook School)

Niall McCamley was the drummer in The Spook School. Now he's bringing Squiggles around. This group is about to drop a debut EP on Alcopop! Records this Friday, and I'm here to rave a bit about it.

Look What We Have Done roars in with "This is a Wake Up Call", a banger that cribs a bit from "Here Comes Your Man", while soaring forward on its own unique energy. Elsewhere, "We Only Came Here For Your Hearts" sounds enough like The Spook School to please fans who've come here because of Niall's previous gig, while "Everything You Learned to Love You" is an affirmation that rocks. The closer of this EP, "Is Your Heart in the Right Place" is an epic proto-anthem, influenced by Pete Shelley it sounds to these ears. All of this is great stuff, and I'm now very eager to hear even more from Squiggles.
