The debut solo album from the former singer of Priests is out next week on FourFour Records, and KAG is here today with a new single. Perhaps the quietest thing she's ever been a part of, "Flag Wave Pt. 2" is one of the best things we've heard from Barbarism so far.
Purring the vocals over an unsettling bed of samples, Katie creates a sense of unease in a listener, the fear of what's around the corner in our world ever present here. The quiet rattle of the rhythm bed is elegant and subtly dramatic, with Greer's performance here one of her most nuanced to date. As with each taste of Barbarism so far, there's a sense that Katie Alice Greer's paranoia rock is reaching for a bold re-establishment of the sort of post-punk once served up by The Normal and Fad Gadget.
Barbarism is out next Friday, June 24. More details below.
