VIDEO PREMIERE: "I Am Forton Wreck" From Useless Users (Ex-Secret Shine, Action Painting!, Sarah Records)

If I wasn't already a fan of Sarah Records bands, I'd likely have wanted to premiere this video simply because there's footage from Blood on Satan's Claw (1971) in the video. Linda Hayden only makes this sound even better than it already did.

The debut album from Useless Users, a band made up of members of Action Painting! and Secret Shine, will be out on July 1 via Emotional Response, and "I Am Forton Wreck" is a brash, hypnotic taste of this band's unique brand of modern indie. Superb and bracing, this is something you'll need to play a few times in a row right away.

F. Boxer from the band kindly offered up some background on the song below.

"'Forton Wreck' - this is the shortest, fastest, most sore-thumbed, rough-shod nod to the 90's, out of sync multi-tracked vocal-through-a-laptop-microphone-song on our nine-track debut LP - WE ARE ALL.

Two minutes twenty-five seconds of frantic psychosis which Kathryn was convinced would make a great UK entry for Eurovision. It's no 'Space Man'.

Like most tracks on the LP, it is formed from the misremembered, half-dreamt and wrongly heard. And fuelled with that little bit of old fashioned late-night panic.

Forton Recreation Ground is in Gosport where all of Action Painting! grew up, got angry, got even. The Rec was the little piece of green we would walk past on our way to school. And after a hard nine to three- thirty of Integrated Science, P.E and eating the only food provided by supervised adults - chips and donuts wringing in oil - we would sit on the ground's swings and wash down the day with litre bottles of Woodpecker cider watching the dog shit burn late into the evening. Never knowing where the old ship wreck was. Idiots.

I think it is the best song on the LP. Sometimes. Like every dog, each song has their day. Tomorrow it will be 'Orchid Blue' or 'Vessels'. Ask me then."

We Are All will be out on July 1 via Emotional Response. Details here on Bandcamp.
