The four-piece Electric Pets are an up-and-coming band from Derby, England. The group makes infectious indie-pop, and there are vibes here reminiscent of those of some of your favorite bands. That said, the band's sound is distinctive and highly recommended on its own terms.
Elephant, the new EP, is out now via Reckless Yes, and the four tunes here are all sharp and brightly rendered. Opener "Make You Mine" swings and swoons like early Catatonia, singer Emma Buckley absolutely owning this material. Elsewhere, "Can't Bring Me Down" adds more chiming guitars to the mix and a faster tempo, making this a real highlight here, while "Seven Mississippis" churns with a real heft. "Show" is the more down-tempo number here, and, again, it's all down to Emma Buckley's vocals to make this such a strong selection.
