While it's barely Thanksgiving here in the States, the folks in Swansea Sound are busy with their upcoming Christmas EP. Music Lover will be out in December, and it's available for pre-order now. The CD will come in a Christmas card signed by the band, or left blank for resending if you want. It's a cool treat indeed.
"Music Lover" is described as a tribute to Daniel Ek, founder of the site we don't talk about around here. It might even be on that site, mainly so that, according to the band, Daniel can make all the money from it. As he would from the other bands he rips off on that site. Regardless, it's a blistering tune. The EP is rounded off by the Buzzcocks-y "Merry Christmas to Me" and "Merry Christmas Darlings", a Cheap Trick cover. This may be the first time that members of Heavenly (Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey) and Cheap Trick are discussed in the same sentence. Of course, knowing that Hue Williams (The Pooh Sticks) is singing lead makes it make more sense, given some power-pop sensiblities in his old band and that of Zander and crew.
