Even though Skep Wax was formed by a couple of indie legends, the up-and-coming label is not content to simply stick to that genre. A new imprint signing is Marlody. And I'm happy to highlight her new video, ahead of her debut album, I'm Not Sure at All in January.
"Summer" is sleek and cool, yet full of emotion. The soundscape here is an austere one, but Marlody delivers a lot of feeling in the presentation, and via her crystal-clear voice. The sound reminded me of Clannad (without the folk bits, natch), a tiny bit. And this new singer from Kent is certainly the sort of performer to watch.
I'm Not Sure at All by Marody will be out in late January on Skep Wax.
