I've been playing Principia by En Attendant Ana a lot the last few months. The record's not out until February, but I've got a download from the label folks that has filled my ears with joy. The Trouble in Mind release is going to be one of the highlights of early 2023 and I'm going to rave about it in a month or so.
For now, I'm happy to share a video from the French band today. "Same Old Story" is one of the best songs on an album full of them. And while the vocals of Margaux Bouchaudon give this a very Stereolab-ish vibe, the guitar and bass underpin that feeling with a hip looseness that's part funk, part early Talking Heads. All the pieces of the tune combine to make something delightful.
And while En Attendant Ana favor a sound that's art rock, or indie pop, the instrumental bits all across the span of the record give the band's music an energy that's invigorating. Okay, more of that in February. For now, rock out with "Same Old Story" and pre-order the record!
