Originally packed with copies of their excellent Pad album, Magic is Pocketed is now a stand-alone EP. Out now via Slumberland Records, this 4-track effort is superb, as you may have already guessed.
"You Really Mean It?" and "Mary, Johnny and Me" are High Llamas-ish confections, light as air, while the other two selections here are more robust. "Harmony" moves forward on a harpsichord-like keyboard riff, the vocals muffled and mysterious, while "Hell" is languid, a Beach Boys-y charm creeping through the melodic line somehow. The four selections here are not too dissimilar from what was on Pad, but the instrumentation on the two with vocals here suggests slight deviations in future efforts. Just beautiful stuff, folks!
