One of my favorite albums so far this year has been Prequel by Infinite River. The super-group of a sort -- Warren Defever (His Name is Alive), Gretchen Gonzales (Universal Indians), and Joey Mazzola (The Detroit Cobras), plus Steve Nistor -- conjured up an entire mood on their record. And the release's tunes provided space to get lost in. I dug that about that offering. Filmmaker Renee Willoughby has now provided visuals to get lost in.
Willoughby's film, Prequel, uses music from the Infinite River release with visuals of her own. Neo-psychedelia flashes in front of us, with Anger-ish imagery intercut with that. The film conjures its own mood, and works well with the expansive music of Defever, Gonzales, Mazzola, and Nistor.
Dig it!
