Handed Down To Love: An Exclusive Excerpt From The New Go-Betweens Lyrics Comic Book

When a Go-Between emails you about a Go-Betweens comic, asking if you want to run an exclusive excerpt, the answer, for someone like me, is a deafening: "YES!"

Out now from Ventil Verlag, The Go Betweens Song Comic - Thank You For A Lovely Day finds 11 artists interpreting 11 songs from all eras of The Go-Betweens. I chose "The Clarke Sisters", from 1987's Tallulah, partly because I love the song and partly because I'm enraptured by the illustrations by artist Bim Eriksson.

The tune remains a cryptic masterpiece, with Robert Forster offering up one of his best compositions and best vocal performances. The directness of 1988's 16 Lovers Lane is perfect, yes, but 1987's Tallulah is where I came in with this band. And that whole record remains very special to me, with any single song being the sort of thing I can get obsessed with if I pop it down in the middle of a playlist or mix-CD (yes, I still make those!).
