Here's a nice surprise! This is a one-off new single from Death Cab for Cutie. The cut and its remix are both bouncy and spry, and this selection mines a similar vein to that mined on their last album, 2022's Asphalt Meadows.
"An Arrow in the Wall" is insistent, and catchy in a not-so-obvious way. There's something hard here, and the angles of the tune offer up a meaty hook to mull over. The CHVRCHES remix is actually a bit more interesting. This version places Ben Gibbard's vocals in a cavernous void, with the keyboards and samples around his voice creating a spacious sound. This is one of the rare instances where I may prefer the remix over the original.
