This set of remixes of songs by Seahawks calms the mood and invigorates the soul. The duo -- Jon Tye and Pete Fowler (Super Furry Animals artist, among other things) -- lent their tunes to some top Japanese producers. The results are the blissed-out charms of Infinite Echo Remixes, out now.
Taro Noharo's remix of "Beams of Love" is the real highlight here. The tune expands into something that seems to be reaching for the peace of the infinite, while keeping an edge about it. There's more obvious melodicism in the two versions of "Blue Surround" here. Calm turns one into a tinkling soundscape, while his "Acid Dub" version is a bit more insistent. While this EP is full of sounds we might call ambient, I think the music works best as chill out material. Or the soundtrack to one's journey through the night. Sleek, lean, and gently insistent in melodic terms in spots, this EP is highly recommended.
