Your Cruel Ways: A Brief Review Of The New Compilation From Nervous Twitch

Just in time for Bandcamp Friday is this new compilation from Leeds trio Nervous Twitch. Odd Socks collects a bunch of disparate releases from the band, from compilation tracks to singles, and such. And the whole thing bursts with energy.

"The Birdman Stomp" has something Cramps-y about it, while "Your Cruel Ways" is pure punk-y exuberance. Elsewhere, "I'd Like to Think You Know Me Better Than That" is smart, sassy, and punchy as heck. A cover of The Flatmates' classic "I Could Be in Heaven" is another highlight here.

Erin Hyde, Jamie Churchley, and Ashley Goodall make a fine noise together. The energy here from Nervous Twitch takes me back to bands I loved in earlier eras, everyone from Huggy Bear to Helen Love to The Buzzcocks. This is brash stuff, delivered with gusto, and it's all extremely listenable.

Odd Socks by Nervous Twitch is out today.
