VIDEO OF THE WEEK: "Kristen Stewart" By Sassyhiya (Ex-Boys Forever, Basic Plumbing)

Full disclosure: I've never seen a Twilight film. But I did think that Kristen Stewart stole the show in that misbegotten 2019 version of Charlie's Angels, and her acting elevated 2020's Underwater into a little gem of a sci-fi thriller. So a song about her got my attention, yeah, but what really did was the fact that a member of this band was in Boys Forever and Basic Plumbing, two bands I followed featuring the late Patrick Doyle of Veronica Falls.

Helen Skinner, Kathy Wright, Bart McDonagh, and Mark Amura are Sassyhiya and they've got a cool new video for their single "Kristen Stewart", about the lesbian icon. Heck, she's an icon for everyone as she's pretty cool and does her own thing. (I'm still not watching those Twilight films though!)

This number channels Eighties indie and has a real DIY sass about it. I dig it. The band are releasing a very limited -- only 50 copies! -- lathe-cut 7-inch single via Skep Wax ahead of their full-length record later this year. More details via that link.

"Kristen Stewart" by Sassyhiya is out now via Skep Wax.
