You must be thinking, "A Track of the Week on a Saturday!?!" Yeah, well things piled up on me this week, folks. But there's always time for good music, and Scotland's Constant Follower are certainly making good, if not great, music.
Their new single, "Whole Be", is the first taste of their upcoming 2025 album which is being produced by Dan Duszynski of Loma. The Smile You Send Out Returns To You is likely to be as memorable as the first long-player from this lot which so enthralled me here.
"Whole Be" is mournful and melancholic, yet, oddly hopeful as it builds. The angelic backing vocals offset the main hook nicely, and there are shades both both light and dark here. The whole thing churns with a modest and precise grace, and fans of Mogwai, Galaxie 500, and Clannad will all find pieces here to embrace.
