There are a lot of singer-songwriters out there. I sometimes get hit with so many pitches here that I sort of automatically tune out for ones that feel routine. The comparisons in the press material about Silverware to Judee Sill caught my eye. Surely that was a foolish boast to make, right? I thought. Well, Ainsley Wagoner, AKA Silverware, really does have a voice worthy of such a comparison, and her material is so deftly rendered that I felt like this is music worth championing here.
I"m happy to premiere the new video from Silverare today for the song New Bright Room off the upcoming album. The track is as light as air, but it's also deeply affecting and precisely rendered in emotional terms. One True Light will be out later this month but today let's focus on this selection. It's also the second animated video I've featured this week!
Ainsley Wagoner offered a few words to me about this tune:
"'New Bright Room' is a simple wish for things to take root in your life. I wrote it in a phase of uncertainty with the album, when I had recently moved -- so I used imagery from my empty apartment to symbolize that invitation to grow. It's a stripped-down, mostly two-chord song, and I love the texture of the baritone home-made rubber-bridge guitar that Omar Akrouche built the sound around. For the video, Ava Lynch beautifully captured the song's love and warmth with her animations of colored glass windows, wild horses, birthday cake, ballerinas, and empty rooms filling with treasures. Please enjoy!"
One True Light by Silverware will be out on August 30. Details below via the Bandcamp link.
